Due to the current pandemic, classroom based, in-person training has become limited, only taking place under essential circumstances. This, in turn has forced organisations to focus on migrating to online, virtual, and digital methods of training to ensure that the highest standards of health & safety are not impacted or undermined. We are seeing that this migration is leading to more strategic approaches when it comes to learning and development plans for newly remote workers.
Organisations are aiming to ensure that quality, performance, and safety is not undermined, while increased engagement, employee productivity and ROI are measurable.
Below are tips to help aid your organisation in providing effective learning for your remote working employees.
1. Flexibility in Training Methods and Options
Flexibility and working on their own terms are two important aspects for employees who work remotely. As an employer, it will be beneficial to you to foster flexibility in your approach to training remote workers, and indeed in all their day-to-day tasks.
Hosting training on a learning management system (LMS) is an excellent way to train remote working employees as it will allow for your message to be displayed consistently. Offering remote workers, the flexibility to begin and pause training to suit and fit their learning level will allow them to feel more satisfied within their jobs. This will encourage employee engagement with the training which in turn will allow them to train themselves more effectively.
2. Enhance Training with Video Learning
The development of technology now makes it easy for teams to collaborate and communicate wherever they may be. As I briefly mentioned the introduction of learning management systems has allowed employers to develop compelling (and consistent) video learning. This can be particularly important for learners working remotely. Many organisations now use video learning to capture and share internal procedures and practices, onboarding of new employees and much more. This is an extremely effective method of creating a permanent resource that employees can revisit no matter where they may be working, having access whenever it is required.
3. Embrace the Right Technology for Remote Employee Training
Due to the current climate, solely relying on traditional classroom training methods is not the most efficient or practical method of delivering training. For remote employee training, you need to find a new approach. Many digital tools help in business continuity, increase employee productivity, and increase Return on Investment (ROI) By offering your employees the correct tools, an increase in employee productivity can be measured. With both office training and remote employee training, keeping your employees engaged is the biggest challenge constantly faced by enterprises.
Occupli’s Transition to “Virtual Classrooms”
Here at Occupli we too have taken the dive and many of our employees are now working remotely. Occupli Training have also moved many of our once, classroom-based training courses to ‘virtual classroom’ instructor-led training. This change meant that trainers and attendees could continue to receive their training in a safe learning environment. These virtual learning environments needed to be of the highest standard in order to comply with the accrediting body policies, and our own learning management system, SAFEWARE, allowed for this to be the case.
Through the SAFEWARE platform we could now deliver live webinar training courses, generate real time reports, schedules, reminders and certificates whilst operating a questions forum and hosting branded training material for attendees to look back on.
By embracing the right technology, we were able to seamlessly integrate Online health & safety training and inductions into our company work process.
Have questions about online training and/or inductions? How does it work, how much does it cost, does it do x?
